Variety of section shapes
Generally roll formed sections are divided into two main categories, standard sections such as channels, “top hat” and purlins and complex shaped sections. For complex sections, the section manufacturer produces the cold rolled section in accordance to customer’s specifi cation. This requires a specially designed and manufactured set of rolls.
Design & manufacture of section rolls
At S+C B&J the manufacture of a section roll set generally starts with the roll design. Our technical staff use specialist roll design software for this purpose. Despite the use of modern roll design software and a precision manufacturing facility, the roll forming process still relies on experience, especially for complex sections. Technicians with design and roll forming experience are required to achieve the successful commissioning of the required roll tooling.
