Lindlar, 04.11.2008. For the first time a meeting of the S+C High-Grade Steel Academy took place outside Germany. In 2007 Schmidt + Clemens (S+C) established the academy and organized interesting series of lectures around the topic high-grade steel four times a year.
Now for the first time in China, S+C organized a two-day conference with the topic „extrusion tool technology” in Tianjin, southeast of Peking. In cooperation with the Chinese Federation of the nonferrous metal industry the conference took place in the hotel Geneva.
Over 30 participants from different companies followed the invitation of S+C. Apart from lectures of S+C about the topics „modern trend of materials for extrusion press tools “and „recipient technology “as well as „services“ was presented also the topic „temperature management “by Stefan Behr of the company I.A.S. from Iserlohn, Germany. A further lecture dealt with the topic „energy savings by application of modern pump technology “. This lecture was presented by Robert Drake of Oilgear Milwaukee, USA. “Energy savings is a big issue also in China”, said Dr. Gernot Strehl, responsible for the high-grade steel academy of S+C.
The interest of our Chinese customers was very big” reported Olaf Müller, Head of Extrusion Press Division of S+C subsidiary MÄRKER. „During the event four experts of S+C were available for detailed questions in regard of optimization of customer production”, Müller said, „also this was particularly worthwhile“.
