Schmidt + Clemens presents annual balance 2008

Lindlar, 29th April 2009. Once again Schmidt + Clemens of Lindlar, Germany, convinced with record sales in the financial year 2008. Group sales could be boosted to 369 Mio. Euro, a growth in sales of approximately 16 %. At its German headquarters S+C realised sales of 225.6 Mio. Euro (169.2 Mio. Euro in 2007).„We are presenting our annual report 2008 in economically strained times“, stated S+C managing partner Jan Schmidt-Krayer. „Therefore we are all the more pleased about the very successful financial year 2008. The Schmidt + Clemens Group’s six production locations were working to full capacity.”In 2008, a new sales company, Schmidt +Clemens Middle East DMCC, was founded in an economically emerging region. The new S+C subsidiary is located in Dubai and serves as sales basis in particular for the Gulf States.On 1st August 2008 Schmidt + Clemens opened a kindergarten “Die S+C Pänz” on the premises in Lindlar-Kaiserau, Germany. With this kindergarten S+C took over a pioneering role in terms of family friendliness in the local region. “We want to take the concerns with regard to day-care for their children off our employees“, said Jan Schmidt-Krayer, „because in many cases both partners are nowadays working. With the kindergarten we took yet another step to be an even more attractive employer in our region”.In 2008, contacts to universities and schools were further intensified. „We have to meet our need for specialists in good time in order to be well prepared for the future“, emphasised Schmidt-Krayer. Thus, the S+C experts hold lectures or take over lessons. S+C also founded a learning partnership with the High School Lindlar. This partnership is part of the project „co-operation of regional enterprises and schools (KURS)”.But the recession which set in suddenly in autumn last year is not leaving us unaffected”, remarked Schmidt-Krayer. „In the first quarter of this year, our markets have already markedly slowed down and it can be assumed that a rebound in 2009 is rather unlikely”, predicted Dr. Henning Kreisel, managing director. „As a consequence we are altogether operating at sufficiently high capacity which, however, differs depending on the product division“.In the middle of this year, a new Technology Centre will be opened in Lindlar-Kaiserau. With this unit, the Schmidt + Clemens Group has a first-rate basis for research and development, unique in the industry. „We can only maintain our leading position with new, customized materials and process improvements“, stated Jan Schmidt-Krayer, „In mid-May we are going to present our new “high temperature materials family” at the international trade fair Achema in Frankfurt/Main, which is very important to us.Schmidt + Clemens is one of the leading manufacturers of high-grade steel components. Main industries the company group is serving are the petrochemical industry, separation technology, energy technology as well as the extrusion press industry and tube and copper rod mills. The Schmidt + Clemens Group employs approx. 1,000 people worldwide (in Germany approx. 600) und apart from the headquarters in Germany also has manufacturing plants in Brazil, Spain, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic and Malaysia.  The company group produces vertical and horizontal spun casting as well as mould casting. The refinement of forged components is the production focus of the subsidiary S+C MÄRKER.No charge for printing but a voucher copy for S+C is requested.
