The fiscal year 2020 was a very challenging one in the history of the Schmidt + Clemens Group. The SARS-CoV-19 virus spread worldwide, resulting in a lockdown in many countries around the world, which was clearly reflected in the global economy. The propensity to invest decreased significantly. We clearly felt this trend in the Special Products business. Sales declines and short-time working were the result here. We did not notice this trend clearly in the Petrochemicals division. On the contrary, at the beginning of the pandemic we were able to win orders against Asian competitors.
Through early and targeted measures, we were able to ensure the operation of our global production sites even during the pandemic. Appropriate hygiene concepts helped us avert damage to the Group. As a result, we also closed 2020 with a good operating result.

COMPANY PERFORMANCE 2020
Fiscal 2020 was dominated by the global corona pandemic. Through responsive adjustments to business processes and consistent digitization of sales and marketing activities, we were able to maintain contact with customers and acquire numerous orders for the Group. The Installation Services business won over customers in Europe with its tailored hygiene concepts and supported them in converting petrochemical plants despite the pandemic situation.

SALES REVENUE IN 2020
Sales in 2020 were down by around 10 million euros compared with the previous year, but in view of the global economic conditions we were still able to close the fiscal year with a good result. This was due on the one hand to a consistent cost-cutting program and on the other to the implementation of measures from the "Ambition 2020" corporate strategy. The balance sheet total was increased to €177,369k.
