2018 INNOVATION PRIZE FOR STAINLESS STEEL SPECIALIST
Schmidt + Clemens maintains its position in face of competition
The German business magazine “Focus”, in cooperation with Deutschland Test, has named Schmidt + Clemens (S+C), the family-owned enterprise based in Lindlar, Germany, as one of the country’s most innovative companies. S+C has earned the accolade in particular on the strength of its innovations, investment and R&D activities. The extensive study was additionally accompanied by the International School of Management (ISM) in Dortmund, and looked at Germany’s 5,000 biggest enterprises measured in terms of employee numbers.
“As the world market leader with our tube and piping systems for the petrochemical industry, we have to ensure that we always stay ahead of the field,” says managing partner Jan Schmidt-Krayer. “We can only achieve this by constantly improving our processes, investing in people and equipment, and developing innovative new products.”
S+C is also showcasing its innovation capabilities at ACHEMA, the world’s leading trade fair for the chemical and petrochemical industry, which is taking place in Frankfurt am Main from 11 to 15 June 2018. With a stand covering a floor area of some 150 m² in Hall 11.0, personnel from research, development, sales and engineering are on hand to meet and discuss with interested trade visitors. The primary focus of the S+C Group is on innovative material and product solutions, including the new product “SCope Fusion HT E®”, a type of special tubing with internal profiling for use in petrochemical applications.
S+C will also be demonstrating its outstanding capabilities in the conference programme, which accompanies the trade show in Frankfurt. A further activity is a workshop where the special requirements of the materials and technologies for use in cracking furnaces will be presented and discussed. In this specific area, S+C is currently also involved as a project partner in the European Union’s “IMPROOF” research project. The aim of this project is to improve the efficiency of cracking furnaces by 20%, while at the same time reducing their emissions of greenhouse gases and nitrogen oxide.
“We already ranked among Germany’s TOP 100 most innovative enterprises in 2016,” Jan Schmidt-Krayer states further. “Being awarded this distinction once more is confirmation of our strategy of inspiring our customers with new, groundbreaking products and services.”
Along with the parent site in Germany, the Schmidt + Clemens Group also has production facilities in Spain, the Czech Republic, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. S+C is the world market leader in tube and piping systems for the petrochemical industry. The product range also includes components for the separation technology and energy engineering sectors, industrial furnace construction and the pump industry.
