VOCATIONAL TRAINING STUDY 2018

For the second time in a row, Schmidt + Clemens (S+C), the stainless steel specialist based in Lindlar, Germany, has been given recognition as one of the country’s best training employers. Within the scope of this year’s study, 20,000 businesses from over 90 industries were surveyed by Deutschland Test and the business magazine Focus Money.

“We are very proud to be named once more as one of Germany’s best training employers,” says managing partner Jan Schmidt-Krayer. “We have been ranked in third place within our sector.”

Every year, the company invests around 1.5 million euros in the initial and further vocational training of its employees. There are currently around 30 apprentices and trainees of the company itself undergoing their training at the purpose-built Schmidt + Clemens Akademie, but S+C is also increasingly handling phases of training and examination preparation for other companies.

“This distinction is an incentive to us to make our services and performance in the field of basic and further training even better,” states Lars Niemczewski, head of personnel and organisational development at S+C. “But it is not just vocational training as such; the Academy’s activities also include national and international programmes to promote the development of qualified junior staff, as well as looking after interns and other trainees.”

Responsibility for the scientific supervision of this year’s study was vested in Prof. Dr. Werner Sarges, one of the leading academics and advisers in the field of aptitude diagnostics.

Schmidt + Clemens has a workforce of around 1,100 people worldwide, some 560 of whom are employed at the parent site in Lindlar. The S+C Group owns companies in Spain, the Czech Republic, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
