Hammer mill in Bickenbach brings back memories

Lindlar/Essen September 06, 2023. More than 190 invited guests accepted the invitation of Lindlar-based stainless steel specialist Schmidt + Clemens (S+C) to this year's retiree and jubilarian celebration at the old hammer mill in the village of Bickenbach.

"After a long break, I am very pleased to welcome you all here again," said S+C managing partner Jan Schmidt-Krayer in his address. "It is a well-lived tradition that we honor our jubilarians for their many years of loyalty and faithfulness to our family business. The thanks of the shareholders, the advisory board and the management go to them."

In his address, Schmidt-Krayer also reported on the company's current business performance: "The order books are well filled." However, he also struck a critical note, saying that the geopolitical situation and numerous sanctions were a major challenge. German politics in particular were also causing headaches for the industry. High prices for energy and high taxes do not make Germany attractive as a business location. It is therefore not surprising that the Group's results are mainly generated abroad.

In addition to the 14 employees celebrating their jubilee, their superiors and the company management, numerous retirees of the company also accepted the invitation. "It is always nice to see old colleagues again," said S+C press spokesman, Lars Niemczewski. "The joint exchange is always refreshing and one or the other anecdote naturally comes up." The two managing directors, Jan Schmidt-Krayer and Dominic Otte, together with HR manager Sonja Fischer, then took over the honoring of the jubilarians for 50, 40 and 25 years of service.

Next year, the world market leader with tube systems for the petrochemical industry will celebrate its 145th birthday. In addition to the group's headquarters in Lindlar, S+C also manufactures in Spain, the Czech Republic and Malaysia. S+C employs around 1,100 people worldwide, including more than 650 in Germany.
