Lindlar, June 21, 2023. VfL Gummersbach can continue to rely on the support of its long-standing partner Schmidt + Clemens beyond the current season. The two companies have been linked for many years by a long-standing and therefore traditional partnership at various partner levels. In the past, S+C also acted as the main sponsor of the Gummersbach handball club. Since the 2020/21 season, the Oberberg-based company was initially located at the top partner level before the cooperation was extended from now on and until at least 30 June 2025 to include a premium and hospitality partnership as well as a commitment as a partner of the VfL Gummersbach handball academy. "For VfL, it is a strong signal that we have been able to further consolidate the long-standing and traditional partnership with a strong player from the region, as demonstrated by Schmidt + Clemens as the world market leader, and bring it closer together again. We are pleased about the newly achieved premium partnership in the Bundesliga, supplemented by a partnership in our handball academy, and we thank S+C for our holistic cooperation as well as the trust placed in us as partners," Dennis Römer, Head of Partner Management at VfL Gummersbach, clarifies the significance.
Schmidt + Clemens is the world market leader in tube systems for the petrochemical industry. With over a thousand employees worldwide, Schmidt + Clemens develops and produces highly complex components made of high-quality special steel that help to use the earth's resources more sustainably. In addition to its headquarters in Lindlar, S+C operates production facilities and service centres in the Czech Republic, Malaysia and Spain. S+C has already received several awards for its culture of innovation and its training activities, most recently as a "TOP 100 Company" and "Leading Employer 2023". This places S+C among the top 1% of employers in Germany. For Lars Niemczewski, Head of Corporate Communications of the Schmidt + Clemens Group, an ongoing commitment to VfL Gummersbach was out of the question: "Just as the steel industry belongs to the Oberberg region, handball is also rooted in the Oberberg region. So it is only natural that we now extend our long-standing partnership for another two years. In addition to supporting the professional handball players, we also care about young talent. From our own experience as a top employer in the region, we know how important our own training is. That is why we will also be supporting the handball academy from the coming season onwards!"
